ART IN THE WOODS presents: ROCÍO PEREZ FERNANDEZ
Rocío and I met for the first time a few years ago through friends in Barcelona, but we mostly meet in her adoptive London, during my numerous stays. I always found a place to live at Rocío, a warm corner has always been there for me or for every guest she had, everytime in need: like her heart, her door is always open.
She could be one of those ageless person with whom you can be partying all night (and day) long like a crazy ever green teenager, but she also can rescue you with one of her recovering meal, after a bad breakup or upcoming trouble, like a true mom.
She put all of these sides on her work, that is the reason why her art is so complex and deep.
This is what she wrote about the Pictures for ART IN THE WOODS:
This project is titled ‘High on Luvox’ : “Specchio rotto? Della sfiga me ne fotto!” It is inspired by Gioia Maini’s conceptual shoe craziness. In her collection ‘Demonio’ she does an exploration of our internal struggles with our daily demons, and the means by which we combat them. Hell can be fun if you walk with the right demon! The boots I photographed for these 7 images are called Luvox after an antidepressant prescription drug. With these boots I took a psychedelic trip through the curse of 7 years of bad luck following the breaking of a mirror. And hell, that was fun!! “Broken mirror? I don’t give a damn about bad luck!”
