ART IN THE WOODS presents: ANTONELLA IUS
Antonella’s works emphasis the use of paints, colors, hair, extensions, and prosthesis to show alternatives to beauty treatments and body image. “She realizes that we need to rethink the body as a subject, as a place of strength and space for reflection, in order to be able to denounce the social pressures on the female body.”
In order to present her project for “Art in the Woods” she worked side to side with photographer and friend Dario Quattrín. The result is a magnetic, colorful and sassy composition where Gioia’s deisgn “Abilify” get even more personified reflecting themselves with their inner demons.
Antonella and I met in Barcelona while working as cultural managers at Fundació Miró, by the time we started we had the beautiful illusion that it was going to be a wonderful, artistic opportunity, but it turned out to be quite a disappointment in that area: all the Art management we had to do was tell to the massive horde of turists where the toilet or the exit were located and “gently yell” : “please, don’t touch the paintings!!”.
Despite of our job bummer, we had our artistic disclosure by meeting each other as artists and friends.
